Mènek · The artist behind VIDA
For Puerto Rican artist Mènek, one idea often opens the door to another. A drawing becomes a painting. An image finds movement. Sound, color and even code become ways to explore what comes next.
Across his professional work and personal creations, that desire to learn and grow keeps taking new forms.
An unexpected beginning
Small notes.
A pen.
An idea taking shape.
Mènek began drawing on small notes as a way to connect with his creative spirit. Those drawings grew into detailed artwork filled with color, hidden details and positive messages. The word VIDA is tucked into every illustration.
Rooted in Mènek’s Puerto Rican identity and inspired by the wider Latino experience, the work carries a spirit of warmth, playfulness and connection.
The artwork became books, then appeared on shoes painted by hand. Today, twelve original designs form Drop 01, a collection of hoodies and tees with optional Spanish messages from the books printed on the back.
That was the beginning of VIDA.
